Carol Ann Dowlin, 38, of Akron, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013, at Ephrata Community Hospital.

She was born in Ephrata to Lamar and Kathie (Shrom) Long and was the wife of Edward P. Dowlin Sr. with whom she shared 4 years of marriage.

Carol was a member of the Grace EC Church, Akron, where she was very active. She was a Sunday school teacher, vice treasurer of the church council and a former youth leader. She enjoyed reading, visiting the mountains and spending time with her family.

Carol was currently employed in the accounting department at MTS Travel, Ephrata.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her children Collin and Megan Smith both at home; a step son, Edward Jr., husband of Sabrina Dowlin of Ephrata, 2 step daughters, Kelly, wife of Carson Slovack of Lancaster, Katlin, wife of Mark Martin of Reamstown, 4 grandchildren, Freedom and Ayvory Dowlin, Jackson and Silas Slovack; a brother, David, husband of Kolleen Long of Lenhartsville; maternal grandparents, Abram, husband of June Shrom and paternal grandparents, Larry, husband of Sherlyn Long of Ephrata.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9 at 4 pm at the Grace EC Church, 101 N. 7th Street, Akron, with Rev. Leslie Cool, Rev. Steve Holubec and Ed Vidzicki officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
