Obituary for George Charles Kelec

George Charles Kelec, 90, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Lancaster General Hospital.

He was born in Linhart to the late Joseph and Catherine (Sholder) Kelec and was the husband of Audrey L. (Barber) Kelec of Lancaster.

George was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Ephrata. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII. During his working years, he worked at Union Switch and Signal in Swissvale, PA for nine years, was the service manager at DeWalt Corporation for 10 years, was a District Magistrate for East Cocalico Township for 15 years, later worked for the Domestic Relations Department of Lancaster County and was also a Bailiff at the Lancaster County Courthouse for several years. An avid golfer, he was the first golf pro at Hawk Valley Golf Club, Bowmansville, he was the Golf Pro and greenskeeper at Sunset Golf Club, Middletown. He was also a big Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Donna K., wife of Robert Pleis of Brownstown, Cynthia, wife of Dale Brubaker of Ephrata; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Allen, Terri Keiper, Laura and Shawn Brubaker; a great grandson, Zachary Keiper; a brother, Dennis, husband of Jane Kelec of Manheim Township.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Joseph Kelec.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
