Obituary for Jereline E. Rhen

Jereline E.  Rhen
Jereline E. Rhen, 92, formerly of Rheems, PA, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014, in Casper, WY.

She was born to the late Simon and Annie Schmidt Stockman on January 24, 1922, in Belleville, IL. She married the late Richard R. Rhen in 1946, with whom she celebrated 59 years of marriage and identical birthdays.

Jereline was a graduate of Jackson High School, Jackson, MO. She met Richard during WWII in St. Louis and moved to PA after their marriage. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Colebrook, Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania Order of the Eastern Star Inc. in Elizabethtown and the Elizabethtown Flower Club. For 20 years, she was a school lunch and playground aide at the Rheems Elementary School. She enjoyed her dogs, growing flowers, dancing and traveling with her husband. They toured many areas of the USA including Hawaii and Alaska and were snowbirds to Florida for many years. They also visited Poland, Hungary, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and cruised Norway.

She is survived by her children; Cynthia Adams, wife of Wayne Adams, Casper, WY, Margaret Whiteley, wife of Bruce Whiteley, Lititz and Gerald Rhen, husband of Susan Killian Rhen, Ephrata. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dwayne Adams, Abby Adams Reeder, Douglas Whiteley and Anne Whiteley; 2 great grandchildren, Heidi Reeder and Clinton Reeder, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings, Mildred Stockman, Charles Stockman and Cecelia Stockman Mayrand Barrett.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in Jereline's memory be made to the Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue (rockymountaincockerrescue.org) or the Lancaster County SPCA (lancasterspca.org).

Graveside services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Colebrook, 58 Church Rd., Manheim, on Friday, July 18, 2014, at 10 am, with Pastor Cheryl Korte officiating.
