Obituary for Rhoda M. Strickler

Rhoda M. Strickler, 76, of Brownstown, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014, at the Ephrata Community Hospital.

She was born in Mt. Joy to the late Charles and Mary (Gockley) Albert and was the wife of Arthur I. Strickler with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.

Rhoda was a life time member of the Salem United Methodist Church, Rothsville. She worked as a seamstress for Atlas Overalls for over 40 years. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, baking and cooking. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, going to the cabin in Sullivan County, bird watching, nature, country music and attending local carnivals.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 5 children, Donna, wife of Neal Snyder, Sandy Muckle of Brownstown, Kenneth, husband of Lori (Cunningham) Strickler of Leola, Karen Greenly, companion of Kim Hill of Brownstown, Susan, wife of Dean Snavely of Lititz; 11 grandchildren, Ashley Snyder, Richard and Bret Muckle, Kara and Bradley Strickler, Jaclyn, Jessica, Jennifer, Julia Greenly, Cole and Carter Snavely; 3 great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Ryan and Mason Muckle; 4 brothers, Lloyd Albert of Lebanon, Melvin, husband of Kathy Albert of Mt. Joy, Marvin, husband of Dayle Albert of Leola, Robert, husband of Julie Albert of Irvine, CA; 4 sisters, Ruth Strickler of Brownstown, Mary Jane, wife of Tom Freeman of Lititz, Lois Lynn of Mt. Joy, Doris, wife of George Schatz of Mt. Joy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Carol Ann Albert and Miriam Gockley.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2014, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Stradling Funeral Home, 30 N. 9th St., Akron. An additional viewing will be held on Friday, July 18, from 10:30 to 11:30 am, at the Salem United Methodist Church, 1744 Rothsville Road, Lititz, followed by her funeral service at 11:30 am, with Rev. Karen Bongard officiating. Interment will take place in the Millport Mennonite Cemetery.
