Obituary for Dale Whitman Jones

Dale Whitman Jones, 70, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Lancaster General Hospital.

He was born in Scranton to the late John B. and Evalyn R. (Whitman) Jones and was the husband of Dorothy (Fowler) Jones, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage.

Dale was a member of the Bird-In-Hand United Methodist Church, Bird-In-Hand. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. Dale was a Nascar fan, Dale Earnhardt Jr. being his favorite driver. He also enjoyed sports, especially baseball and football and traveling. Dale worked as a retail manager for CVS Pharmacy in Panama City, FL prior to retirement.

In addition to his wife, Dale is survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Bell Jones.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 22, from 9 to 10 am at the Bird-In-Hand United Methodist Church, 2620 Old Philadelphia Pike, P.O. Box 408, Bird-In-Hand, followed by funeral services held at 10 am with Pastor Benjamin Goldberg-Taylor officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Dale's memory may be made to American Cancer Society-Lanc. Co. Unit, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
