Obituary for Mary E. (Snyder) High

Mary E. (Snyder) High, 88, of Ephrata, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Fairmount Homes.

She was born in East Earl Township to the late Martin and Anna (Zimmerman) Snyder and was the wife of the late Edwin N. High who passed away in 1999.

Mary was a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church (Brick), Leola. During her working years, she worked at Hagy’s meat stand at the Green Dragon. She enjoyed bird watching, sewing, quilting, tennis and board games.

She is survived by 2 sons, E. Ray, husband of Karen (Sollenberger) High of East Earl, Kenneth L., husband of Susan (Stauffer) High of Stevens; 3 daughters, Ann Weaver of Lancaster, L. Jane, wife of Nelson Sangrey of Tyrone, Darla F., wife of Michael Berg of Orlando, FL; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Martin, husband of Norma Snyder of Ephrata; 2 sisters, Mabel, wife of the late Weaver Burkholder of Akron and Ruth, wife of John Zimmerman of Ephrata.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Eugene High.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, from 12 to 2 p.m., at the Groffdale Mennonite Church, 168 N. Groffdale Rd., Leola, followed by her funeral service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Thomas Eshleman officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
