Elijah Louis Stanley, 88, of Stevens, formerly of Texas, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015, at Fairmount Homes Inc. in Ephrata.

He was born in Snow Camp, NC, to the late Rev. Vernie Baxter and Allene (Coltrane) Stanley and was the husband of Pauline (Strother) Stanley, whom he married on July 1, 1951. They shared 63 years of marriage.

He was a member of the Reamstown Church of God in Stevens. He enjoyed farm life raising cattle, goats, donkeys, geese, and horses.

For many years, Elijah worked as a long distance truck driver for various companies.

In addition to his wife, Elijah is survived by 2 sons, Stephen W., husband of Dianna (Windsor) Shull of Denver, and Baxter Lee Stanley of Halifax, Nova Scotia; a daughter, Brenda Stanley Hart of Asheboro, NC; 9 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Allen Stanley; and a sister, Latricia Stanley Beck.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Reamstown Church of God, 400 Pfautz Hill Rd., Stevens. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 am, with Pastors Joel Hainley and Arthur Karick officiating. Interment will take place in the Mellingers Union Cemetery.
