Obituary for William Issac "Ike" Burkhart

William Issac "Ike" Burkhart, 85, of Denver, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Ephrata Community Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Brecknock Twp. to the late Elmer and Katie (Good) Burkhart and was the husband of Laura (Coldren) Burkhart, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.

Ike was a member of Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, Denver. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, bowling, dart ball, building and remodeling, traveling and playing cards. He was a Cub Master in his earlier years. Ike's best buddy was Max the cat. Ike worked as a Housing Inspector, and formerly was a carpenter. He was a graduate of Mohnton High School class of 1947.

In addition to his wife, Ike is survived by a daughter, Denise Burkhart of Ephrata and sister, Kathryn Sensenig of Ephrata.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Burkhart.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 20, from 1 to 2 pm at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver, followed by funeral services held at 2 pm, with Pastor Schwabe-Fry officiating. Interment will take place in the Muddy Creek Cemetery.
