Obituary for Pauline "Polly" M. Emerick

Pauline "Polly" M.  Emerick
Pauline “Polly” M. Emerick, 90, of Denver, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015, at Denver Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Denver to the late Martin and Mary (Taylor) Shober and was the wife of the late Robert H. Emerick who passed away in 2007.

Polly was a lifelong member of Faith United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Denver and she dearly loved her church and church family. She was a devoted Nana to all her "sweeties" and an avid card player. During WWII she worked in Lancaster at Armstrong and much later at the Ephrata Market Basket grocery store. Lastly, she assisted her husband with his antique business.


She is survived by a daughter, Marysue, wife of Rick Ruth of Ephrata; 2 granddaughters, Kristie, wife of Chris Schmid of Ephrata, Jill, wife of Jeremy Zimmerman of Lititz; 6 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Gracyn and Caroline Schmid, Lauren, Chase and Raegan Zimmerman; a sister, Ethel, wife of Pierce Lesher of Adamstown and a brother, Richard Shober of Ephrata.


In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by 5 brothers and 5 sisters.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, May 23, from 9 to 11am, at the Faith United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 357 Walnut St., Denver, followed by her funeral service at 11 am, with Pastor Joseph A.Veres officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Brickerville.

Memorial contributions in Polly’s memory may be made to Faith United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 357 Walnut St., Denver, PA 17517.

The family would like to thank the Denver Health and Rehabilitation Center staff for their excellent care and love given to Polly. Also, thanks to the many friends and family who faithfully visited, called and sent cards during the past 3-1/2 years.
