Obituary for John L. Mede

John L.  Mede
John L. Mede, 83, of Helena, MT, formerly of Denver, PA, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015, at home.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late John Lawrence and Hazel (Dorr) Mede and was the husband of the late Mary Ann (Driscoll) Mede who died in 2002. John and Mary were married for almost 50 years.

John was of the Catholic faith. John loved life, his family friends and the great outdoors.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received a Purple Heart for wounds suffered during battle. He began his career as a stock boy for F.W. Woolworth retired from the F.W. Woolworth Co., as the National Vice President of Distribution.
By his words and deeds John often expressed gratitude for the many blessings bestowed upon him and he encouraged others to be positive, enthusiastic and thankful.

John is survived by 2 sons, William, F., husband of Teresa Mede of Anchorage, AK, and John L., husband of Marisol Mede of West Palm Beach, FL; 3 daughters, Karen A., wife of George W. Kling of Denver, PA, Maureen D'Aiutolo of Charlotte, NC, and Dianne H., wife of Barry N. Horne of Trumbauersville, PA; 8 grandchildren, Jamie Self, Patrick Mede, Eric D'Aiutolo, Christy Mede, Trevor Kling, Nicole Mede, Christopher Horne, and Zachary Mede; a great-grandchild, Jordyn; and 2 sisters, Barbara Ramos of Vernon, CT, and Dorothy Mede of Fort Wayne, IN.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Donald, Richard, James, and Kenneth Mede, and 4 sisters, Beverly Mede, Marion Mede, Priscilla Mede, and Linda Smith.

A graveside funeral service will be held for both John and Mary Ann, on Friday, June 5, 2015, 3:00 pm at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with Father Job Foote officiating. Military honors will be accorded for John by the Vet 21 Salute Honor Guard.
