Frances R. Burkholder, 88, of Leola, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at her home following a lengthy illness.

She was born in West Earl Twp. to the late John D. and Anna Z. (Reiff) Zimmerman and was the wife of Paul N. Burkholder, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage.

Frances was a member of Groffdale Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference) Leola, and was a homemaker.

In addition to her husband, Frances is survived by six children, John Z., husband of Mabel (Hoover) Burkholder of Leola, Emma Z. Burkholder of Dorchester, WI, Anna Mary Burkholder at home, Ella Z. Burkholder at home, Ruth Z., wife of Lester Martin of Curtiss, WI, Ina Z., wife of Norman Hoover of Owen, WI; 21 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four children, Amos, Norman, Elam and Annetta Burkholder; six grandchildren; three brothers, Aaron, John and Elam Zimmerman; and seven sisters, Mary Weaver, Ella Sensenig, Lydia Weaver, Anna Zimmerman, Lizzie Martin, Minnie Shirk and Emma Hoover.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 30, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm, from the late residence, 185 Forest Hill Rd., Leola. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 8:45 am from the late residence, with further services held at 9:30 from the Groffdale Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference), Leola, with Bishops Elam Zimmerman and Ammon Weaver officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
