Obituary for Esther Z. Martin (Martin)

Esther Z. Martin, 87, of Ephrata, formerly of Lititz, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015, at Fairmount Homes.

She was born in East Earl to the late Henry and Mariah (Zimmerman) Martin and was the wife of Paul B. Martin with whom she shared 67 years of marriage.

Esther was a member of Lime Rock Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference). She was a homemaker who also worked a Green Dragon stand selling silverware, dishes and furniture.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 4 sons, Melvin M., husband of Barbara (Martin) Martin of Ephrata, Clair M., husband of Ruth Ann (Weaver) Martin of Hayward, WI, Earl M., husband of Judy Lynn (Sensenig) Martin of Lititz,Vernon M., husband of Jeana (Martin) Martin of Lititz; 3 daughters, Marian M., wife of Paul Martin of Ephrata, Mary M., wife of John Maldanado of Sarasota, FL, Elaine M. Jenkins of Lititz; 29 grandchildren and 73 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers, William Z., Menno Z., Jonas Z. and Henry Z. Martin; 1 sister, Lydia Weaver.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 23, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, at the Wheat Ridge Chapel at Fairmount Homes, 333 Wheat Ridge Dr., Ephrata. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 24, at 9 am, at the Midway Mennonite Reception Center, 210 E. Lexington Rd., Lititz, with further services at 9:30 am, from the Lime Rock Mennonite Church, 99 Penn Valley Road, Lititz, with Bishop Melvin Martin officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fairmount Homes for the excellent care given to Esther.
