Obituary for Paul H. Martin

Paul H. Martin
Paul H. Martin, 76, went to be with his Lord on August 20, 2015, at his home in Lititz.

He was born at home on the family farm in Goodville, Lancaster County on December 17, 1938, to the late Isaac Martin who died in 1956 and the late Barbara (Horst) Martin who died in 1979. Paul married Judy L. (Ginder) Martin on August 31, 1963; the couple shared 52 years of marriage.

Paul was member of the United Zion Church, was instrumental in starting River Of Life Ministries under United Zion which he attended.

Paul grew up and worked on the family farm in Goodville until the age 16 when he was gassed in a silo and developed silo fillers disease and was told to get off the farm. He then went to work with Joe Russel and became a painter. Paul always wanted his own business but he knew painting was not going to be it. In 1960 he went to work at Morgan Trailer Company in Morgantown and later became a partner with Elton Mountz. This led to starting several plants all over the United States. Paul retired from Morgan Corporation in 2000. In 1998 Paul pursued his passion for missions and became involved with YWAM (youth with a mission) and decided to call himself PA Mission Builders, taking numerous people from Lancaster County to help in construction and medical outreaches at mission bases all over the world. Due to ill health, Paul turned PA Mission Builders over to Chris Zimmerman who is still carrying on Paul’s vision.

Paul's hobbies besides work were hunting; he hunted big game in Alaska five times as well as other hunts in the states. His most cherished hunting was done with family, especially his grandsons. He gave each grandson a special gun when they turned 12 and was with each one when they shot their first deer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters; Barbara A., wife of Michael D. Martin of East Earl, Karen L., wife of Dean L. Garman of Lititz, Krista Martin Hiebert of Hamden, CT; nine grandchildren; Chastin Nicole (Martin), wife of Richie Zook, Weston Michael, husband of Alyssa (Groff) Martin, Garth Mitchell Martin, Blake Connor Martin, Brooke Leigh Garman, Bailey Logan Garman, Lindsay Taylor Hiebert, Jonathan Lamont Hiebert, Alena Regan Hiebert; four great-grandchildren, Madison Pearl Zook, Morgan Ann Zook, Makenna Joy Zook, Avery Grace Martin; one brother, Isaac, husband of Esther Martin of Martinsburg; three sisters, Barbara wife of David Zimmerman of Leola, Vera wife of Lloyd Martin of MO, Edna wife of Mahlon Zimmerman of Leola; two sisters-in-law; Ruth Martin, wife of the late Lloyd Martin of Terre Hill, Evelyn Martin, wife of the late Henry Martin of Lancaster.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd Martin, Raymond Martin, Henry Martin; 4 brothers-in-law, Harvey Martin, Eli Rieff, Aaron Shirk, Raymond Zimmerman; two sisters, Laura Martin, Mary Shirk and a sister-in-law, Anna Martin.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 25, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, at LEFC, 419 Pierson Rd., Lititz. A Celebration of His Life Service will be held on Wednesday, August 26, at 10:30 am, at LEFC, with Pastor Ken Fox officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
