Lester A. Cammauf, 97, of Akron, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.

He was born in Talmage to the late Leroy and Harriet (Berkenbine) Cammauf and was the husband of Evelyn G. (Shreiner) Cammauf for 77 years.

He was a member of the Akron Church of the Brethren, Tri-County Hunting Club, Potter Co., Lebanon County Beagle Club, Beagling Hall of Fame, 1996 inductee judge for the licensed beagle clubs, Eastern region. He enjoyed hunting, raising beagles, walking his dog and was an avid Yankees and PSU football fan.

Lester worked as a steel worker for the Lukens Steel Co. of Coatesville for 38 years prior to his retirement.

In addition to his wife, Lester is survived by son, Ronald L. Cammauf of Akron; daughter, Rosalie, widow of Harry Williams of Akron; 4 granchildren, Scott, husband of Viji Cammauf of Oakland, CA, Jim, husband of Tammy High of Pine Mountain, GA, Jeffrey, husband of Sara High of Reinholds, Judy, wife of Michael Styer of Denver; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; 2 brothers, Carl, husband of Nancy Cammauf of Akron, Wilbur Cammauf of Lititz; sister, Jane, wife of Russell Groff of Lititz.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Leroy, Herbert, Walter and Richard Cammauf; 2 sisters, Caroline Huber and Emeline Klopp.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2015, from 10 to 11 am at the Akron Church of the Brethren, 613 Main Street, Akron, followed by his funeral service at 11 am, with Pastor Tom Weber officiating. Interment will take place in the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery, East Cocalico Twp.
