Obituary for John Edwin Parrish

John Edwin  Parrish
John Edwin Parrish, 86, of Stevens, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015, at Denver Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Lancaster to the late William and Elizabeth (Pfautz) Parrish. He grew up there and was also a long time resident of Brownstown.

John worked in the painting room at Black and Decker, Lancaster, prior to his retirement. He enjoyed playing bingo. He and his mother made it a weekly outing. John could always be found with a smile on his face and a kind word. He was quite the character and was joyful all his life. He enjoyed singing and was comforted may times by hymns sung to him by Chaplain Tim.

John is survived by brother, William Parrish of Denver; 3 nephews and 1 niece; 2 great nieces and 3 great nephews; 5 great great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by sister, Elizabeth V. Dochter.

There will be a gathering held on Friday, December 4, 2015, at 9 am, at the Stradling Funeral Home, 30 North Ninth Street, Akron, with a prompt departure to the Riverview Burial Park, Lancaster, followed by his graveside service at 10:30 am, with Chaplain Tim George officiating.

Memorial contributions in John's memory may be made to Caring Hospice, 101 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603. The family would like to thank the staff of Denver Rehabilitation Center and Caring Hospice for their care, love and friendship shown to John while in their care.
