Ethel Alberta Murr, 94, of Lititz, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Luther Acres.

She was born in Lancaster to the late Raymond A. and Mary E. (Leaman) Schlemm and was the wife of the late J Richard Murr who passed away in 2002.

Ethel was a member of the Trinity E.C. Church, Lititz. She was a 1939 graduate of McCaskey High School and a 1943 graduate of Lancaster General School of Nursing. Ethel retired as a registered nurse in 1983 after working at various hospitals, schools and doctors offices. She volunteered her time with Meals on Wheels and her hobbies were flower gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting and cooking.

She survived by 2 sons, Thomas Richard, husband of Brenda Ann (Seibert) Murr of Anderson, IN, David Craig, husband of the late Martina Lyn (Stoner) Murr of Pfafftown, NC; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and a brother, Jere R., husband of Sandra (Beam) Schlemm of East Petersburg.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Bethany Jean Murr; 2 brothers, James Schlemm and Major C.L. Schlemm.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 23, from 12 to 2 pm, at the Stradling Funeral Home, 30 North Ninth Street, Akron, followed by her funeral service at 2 pm, with Pastor Ryan E. Taylor officiating. Interment will take place in the Brownstown Cemetery.
