Obituary for E. Arlene Steffy Nolt

E. Arlene Steffy  Nolt
E. Arlene Steffy Nolt, 81, of Ephrata, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital. Arlene fell many times in the last few years, but Saturday she fell safely in the arms of Jesus forevermore.

She was born in East Earl to late Samuel S. and Mary A. (Burkholder) Zimmerman and was the wife of the late Clarence F. "Closs" Steffy, and David Nolt.

She was a member of Ephrata Church of the Brethren, Family Circle of Lincoln, in earlier years the Early Bird Walking Club, Brownstown Young at Hearts, West Earl Lions Club, and Friendly Circle. She was a volunteer at the Ephrata Community Hospital Gift Shop, and she collected and donated Teddy Bears to nursing home residents and children. She enjoyed traveling with her companion Abe Shrom, dining out with family and friends, and always enjoyed a nice car. She was affectionately known as the Banana Lady at Fairmount Homes.

Arlene worked as a electronics inspector for RCA Corp, Lancaster,currently known as Burle Industries.

Arlene is survived by a son, Jeffrey L., husband of Christina (Miles) Sullivan of Morgantown; 2 grandchildren, Sheila (Sullivan), wife of Eric Higginson of Oconomowoc, WI, Keith Sullivan of Denver, CO; 2 step-grandchildren, Amanda Yiengst, and David Shelly; 3 great-grandchildren, Alahna, Logan, and Keira Higginson; 6 step-great-grandchildren, Mariah, Bryce, Reagan, Seth, Dawson, and Campbell; 2 brothers, Glenn E. Zimmerman, companion of Rose Musser of Ephrata, and Harlan B. "Tuffy" Zimmerman of Ephrata; a sister, Dorothy, wife of Edwin Erb of Ephrata; and companion, Abram Shrom, Sr. of Brownstown.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016, from 6 to 8 pm at Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver, and from 9 to 10 am, Friday, at Ephrata Church of the Brethren, 201 Crescent Avenue, Ephrata, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, with Pastor Rob Eshelman officiating. Interment will take place in the Pleasant View Cemetery.
