Obituary for Irene Andes

Irene Andes, 80, of Denver, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.

She was born in Berks County to the late Paul and Florence (Gerhart) Bensing and was the wife of Clarence Andes, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.

Irene enjoyed sewing and crocheting, and crocheted hats for her grandchildren, having finished her last one the Tuesday before she passed. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She worked for 21 years in central supply for Ephrata Hospital, and for 10 years at the Hampton Inn.

In addition to her husband, Irene is survived by 2 sons, Keith, husband of Linda Andes of Ephrata, and Brian, husband of Veronica Andes of Reinholds, 2 daughters, Roxanne, wife of Michael Mayrosh of Bethlehem, and Kimberly, wife of Lyle Shober of Ephrata; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a nephew, William Ulrich, and a niece, Judy Krouse.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Ulrich.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016, at 11:00 am, at St. John's Center United Church of Christ, 432 Reading Road in East Earl, with a greeting time from 10 to 11 am. Pastor Brad Haws will be officiating. Interment will take place in the Swamp Cemetery.
