Obituary for Margaret Donna Haines (Beatty)

Margaret Donna Haines (Beatty)
Margaret Donna Haines, 66, Manheim
Margaret Donna Beatty Haines (Donna), self-less mother, sister, daughter, teacher, and friend, passed peacefully at home on Tuesday December 6th, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Donna was the daughter of Claire and the late Joseph B. Beatty III of Ephrata, and is survived by her two daughters Amy Rittle of Lebanon and Stacy Nunez of Macungie, granddaughter Adaelyn Nunez, and siblings Joseph Beatty of Lititz, Cheryl McLaughlin of Elverson, William (Scott) Beatty of Ephrata, and Kimberly Ditzler of Sinking Spring.
Born in Scranton, Donna went on to achieve degrees in Graphic Arts from La Roche College and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. After spending time with the Boyd-Wilson Property Management Firm and instructing art in the public-school setting for several years, Donna proceeded to obtain her Masters of Education from Millersville University. She then established Donna’s Kids, her home-based child care business, where she skillfully combined her love for children and the arts to provide meaningful, loving care and enrichment for many area children, which she continued to operate with dignity and full attention, throughout most of her battle.
When she wasn’t working, Donna enjoyed teaching Zumba at various fitness and community centers throughout the county. Donna was also an adept artisan who enjoyed constantly challenging herself with new ways of creating, including crochet, weaving, cake decorating, folk art painting, tinwork, glass leading, and many other types of media. Donna was always sharing her gift of creation by freely donating cakes for special events, and hand-made hats and blankets for the American Cancer Society.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016, from 9 to 10 AM at the St. Richards Catholic Church, N Oak Street, Manheim followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Celebration at 10:00 AM with Father Stephen Weitzel as celebrant. Final commendation and farewell will take place in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Donna's memory may be made to Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, 2102 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601 or Help the Fight Organization of Lancaster, 143 Oakridge Drive, Mountville, PA 17554.
