Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Rutt (Hursh)

Mary Elizabeth (Hursh) Rutt, 81, formerly of Manheim, entered into rest at Cocalico Christian Home, where she was a resident for 6 weeks, on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, after a prolonged journey with cancer.

She was born in Earl Township, PA, a daughter of the late Curvin S. and Anna (Martin) Hursh. Mary was the wife of the late Ervin B. Rutt.

Mary was a member of Lime Rock Mennonite Church, Lititz, of the Weaverland Conference. She was a homemaker and had a keen interest in genealogy.

Surviving, are five sons, Delmar, husband of Nancy Martin Rutt of Savannah, NY, Jay Ervin, husband of Marian Martin Rutt of Womelsdorf, Lynford, husband of Erma High Rutt of Oldtown, MD, Joel, husband of Irene Fox Rutt of Manheim, Arlin, husband of Jody Martin Rutt of Sinking Spring; three daughters, Vanita, wife of Michael Martin of Bernville, LuAnne, Wife of Harold Fox of Newmanstown, Rhoda, wife of Mark Wenger of Mifflinburg; a daughter-in-law, MaryAnn Rutt of Leesport; 56 grandchildren and 92 great-grandchildren; brothers, Curvin Hursh JR of Atmore, AL, Amos of Ephrata; sisters, Helen, wife of Elvin Hurst of Newmanstown, Kathryn, wife of Clarence Nolt of Myerstown. She was preceded in death by a son, Nevin and a grandson, a brother, Paul Hursh and a sister, Vera Hoover.

A viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Monday, February 20, at the Midway Reception Center, Lititz. Funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb.21, from the Midway Reception Center, with further services at 9:30 a.m. at the Lime Rock Mennonite Church, Penn Township, with Bishop Melvin Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
