Obituary for Sandra Coldren

Sandra Coldren
Sandra “Sandy” I. Coldren (Bingaman), 72, of Denver, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2017, exactly one month after her husband Bill’s passing.

She was born in Ephrata, to Richard and Thelma (Gerhard) Bingaman and was married to William “Bill” D. Coldren, Jr. for 53 years.

Sandy was a 1962 graduate of Ephrata High School, where she was a member of the FBLA. She worked at Conestoga Wood Specialties until her retirement in 2009. She and Bill also owned and operated a 24-acre farm in Denver for about 20 years.

She was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ. She volunteered for the Denver Fair Committee since 1988 and served on the Board of Directors for the fair from 2013 to 2016. Both Sandy and Bill were passionately involved in the Shriners and Masons. When Bill was Potentate of the Shrine in 2009, Sandy proudly stood by him in her position as First Lady. When she wasn’t at a Shriners event, Sandy enjoyed shopping and then shopping some more.

Sandy is survived by a son, William D. Coldren, III of Akron and a daughter, Lori S. Coldren and her fiancé Jeff Eichenseer, of Reinholds, and her beloved cat Mitzi.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, July 15, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, with a memorial Service and lunch immediately following, at Bethany United Church of Christ, 140 East Main Street, Ephrata. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to express deep gratitude to all of Sandy’s caretakers and supporters in her final days, including Senior Helpers and Hospice and Community Care of Lancaster.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sandy’s memory to Shriners Hospitals for Children (Philadelphia) at shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/donate.
