Obituary for Joan E. Merrill (Blansfield)

Joan E. Merrill, 79, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Hospice and Community Care, Lancaster.

She was born in Elkton, MD to the late Joseph and Sarah (Scarborough) Blansfield and was the wife of Roger Merrill with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.

Joan was a member of the Berean Bible Church, Ephrata. She chose to be a stay at home mom and was an excellent homemaker. She was always involved and dedicated to church activities.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Karen L., wife of John Hoffman of Colorado Springs, CO; a son, Gordon R. Merrill of Chattanooga, TN; 3 grandchildren, Gregory, Jeremy and Bethany Merrill and 2 great grandchildren.


A visitation will be held on Monday, March 4, from 9 to 10 am at the Berean Bible Church, 675 Lincoln Gardens Road, Ephrata, followed by her funeral services at 10 am with Pastor Kelly Sensenig officiating. Interment will take place in the Lincoln View Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Joan's memory may be made to Berean Bible Church, Missions Outreach, 675 Lincoln Gardens Road, Ephrata, PA 17522.
