Obituary for Edwin Z. Zimmerman

Edwin Z.  Zimmerman
Edwin Z. Zimmerman, 69, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015, at his residence.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Lloyd and Mabel (Zimmerman) Zimmerman and was the husband of Marjorie A. (Miller) Zimmerman with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.

Ed was a charter member of the Cornerstone Mennonite Fellowship, Ephrata. He was baptized October 25, 1970 at Spring Grove Church of the Brethren. During the Vietnam War he participated in the alternative service of civilian work, working at the Prince George's County General Hospital. He was the owner/operator of Zimmerman’s Auto Body Supplies, Ephrata and was an expert auto body man. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially playing games with them. He was a passionate ambassador of Christ and the importance of God's word.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his 4 children, Pam, wife of Jaime Santiago of Gap, Nadine, wife of Ken Weaver of Narvon, Greta, wife of Andriy Poplavskyy of Ephrata, Corey, husband of Sheila Zimmerman of New Holland; 15 grandchildren; 5 siblings, Eugene, husband of Mary Zimmerman of Ephrata, Richard, husband of Romaine Zimmerman of Ephrata, Marian Zimmerman of Ephrata, Ronald, husband of Marianne Zimmerman of Ephrata, Lloyd, husband of Faye Zimmerman of Ephrata; 2 foster sisters, Dorothy Friedly of Denver and Linda, wife of James Martin of Mt. Pleasant Mills.


A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 22, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, at the Petra Christian Fellowship, 565 Airport Road, New Holland. An additional viewing will be held on Thursday, April 23, from 9 to 10 am, at the church, followed by his funeral service at 10 am, with the Cornerstone Mennonite Ministry Team officiating. Interment will take place in the Hahnstown United Zion Cemetery.
