Obituary for Joseph Ammon Long

Joseph Ammon  Long
Joseph Ammon Long, 71, of Ephrata, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was born in Lancaster to the late Bernard Long and Bernice (Leonard) Meisinger and was the husband of Henrietta (Weik) Long, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage.

He was a member of LCBC in Ephrata, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, motorcycling, and wood burning crafts.

Joseph graduated from the Scotland School for Veterans' children, and served as a veteran himself in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.

He retired from Brubacher Excavating in October of 2007.

In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by a son, Joseph Allen Long of Oregon City, OR, a daughter, Kristina Marie Long of Ephrata; a grandson, Daniel James Long of Ephrata; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Carl Long.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, 3:00 pm at the Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery, 319 Wabash Road, Ephrata, with Gary Carter officiating. Casual attire requested. Military rites will be accorded by the Red Rose Honor Guard and the Vet 21 Salute Honor Guard.

Family requests memorial contributions in Joseph's memory be made to Hospice and Community Care, P. O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
