Obituary for Shirley J. Miller

Shirley J.  Miller
Shirley J. Miller, 89, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at her residence in Brethren Village.

She was born in Ephrata to the late Elvin and Laura (Enck) Frymyer.

She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, Ephata. She graduated from Ephrata High School, Class of 1945 and Millersville State Teachers College, Class of 1949. Shirley volunteered for Lancaster Contact and was a librarian for the Ephrata Cancer Center Library. For more than 20 years, she was a board member for EASS and also served on the board for the Ephrata Public Library. Shirley was a member of the Great Books Discussion group at Ephrata Public Library for more than 20 years, an avid bridge player, and a member of the Ephrata Woman's Club, .

Shirley is survived by her brother Bruce, husband of Betsy Frymyer; 2 sons, Bruce D. Rettew, husband of Vicky (Zinn) Rettew and Bradley N. Rettew, husband of Susan (Burkhart) Rettew; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer (Rettew) Bushey, wife of Steven Bushey, April (Rettew) McGinty, wife of Bernard J. McGinty, Laura (Rettew) Stehr, wife of Brock Stehr and Chad Rettew, husband of Arlene Rettew; 7 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at 11 am, at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 167 East Main St., Ephrata, with Reverend Henry Herbener officiating. Family will receive guests beginning at 10 am. Interment will be private at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Shirley's memory may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 167 East Main Street, Ephrata, PA 17522.
