Obituary for Emma M. Zimmerman (Hoover)
Emma M. Zimmerman, 91, formerly of Akron, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Lincoln Christian Home.
She was born in West Earl Township to the late Henry B. and Lizzie W. (Martin) Hoover and was the wife of Amos W. Zimmerman.
She was a member of Groffdale Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference) West Earl Township. Emma was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and traveling to Pinecraft Florida during the winter months. In November they celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.
In addition to her husband, Emma is survived by 5 children, Irene H., wife of Melvin Kurtz of Auburn, NY, Thelma H. Zimmerman of Ephrata, Raymond H., husband of Alma (Zimmerman) Zimmerman of Newmanstown, Mabel H., wife of Delmas Lehman of Lititz, Nevin H., husband of Lisa (Fox) Zimmerman of East Earl; 23 grandchildren; 88 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings, Edna M. Burkholder of Ephrata, Vera M., wife of the late Moses Martin of Lititz, Henry M., husband of Mabel (Burkholder) Hoover of Ephrata, Raymond M., husband of the late Gladys (Lehman) Hoover of Ephrata; brother-in-law, Lloyd W., husband of the late Mary Hoover of Ephrata; sister-in-law, Irene Martin of Ephrata.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a great granddaughter; a brother, Clarence Hoover; a sister, Mary Martin; a foster brother, Paul Ranck and a foster sister, Edwina Weaver.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, at the Martindale Mennonite Fellowship Center, 352 Martindale Rd, Ephrata. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 27, 2016, at 9 am, with further services at 9:30 am, at Groffdale Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference), 168 N Groffdale Rd., West Earl Township, with Bishop Curvin Zimmerman, officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
