Obituary for Robert A. Wanner

Robert A. Wanner
Robert A. Wanner, 66, went to be with his Lord on November 29, 2016 at Conestoga Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a battle of several years with dementia.

Born in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late James H. Wanner and late Ella F. Goodman. He was a graduate of Conestoga Valley High School class of 1968. He earned a B.A. Degree in Journalism from Penn State University. After graduation he worked for Campus Crusade for Christ in CA. He then attended Dallas Theological Seminary, and later earned a Master of Divinity Degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in MA, and a Technical Writing Certification from Clark University.

For most of his adult life he lived in Massachusetts where he worked as a technical and senior technical writer for Digital Equipment Corporation, Sykes Enterprises, and Pri-Brooks Automation. For many years he and his wife were involved in Christian music ministry and religious studies and teaching. He also enjoyed watching and playing basketball, baseball, and tennis. Bob was a quiet, kind individual with a wonderfully dry sense of humor and wit.

He returned to Lancaster County where he resided for the past fifteen years. He was employed by Conestoga Wood Specialties, and attended Grace E.C. Church in Akron.

He is survived by one brother, Ronald J. Wanner, husband of Susan R. , a niece, Jennifer, a nephew, David, stepmother Carol Wanner and stepsister Lori Armstrong.

There will be no viewing, but a visitation time for family and friends will be held from 10 to 11AM, followed by the memorial service at the Stradling Funeral Home, 30 N. Ninth Street, Akron on December 6, 2016 at 11 AM, with Pastor Les Cool officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to Faith Friendship Villa, 128 West Main Street, P.O. Box 567, Mountville, PA 17554 where Bob resided for several years.
