Obituary for George E. Darby

George E. Darby, 64, of Akron, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at Lancaster General Hospital.

He was born in Philadelphia to the late Ernest and Mae Belle (Johns) Darby and was the husband of Susan L. (Auckland) Darby with whom he shared 42 years of marriage.

George was an ordained minister since 1987, serving Collingdale, Rothsville and Milton Grove United Methodist Churches. He also had his own music evangelism ministry called Fresh Faith Gospel Ministries, traveling across the country with his tent Beulah. George was a fisherman, golfer and his true enjoyment was being a model railroad enthusiast. He was a professional singer and guitarist.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters, Jennifer, wife of Jeremy Youndt, Amy Darby, wife of Geoff Thomas; a brother, Kenneth Darby and a sister, Sharron Bryant.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Salem United Methodist Church, 1744 Rothsville Rd., Lititz, followed by his memorial service at 11 a.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions in George's memory may be made to the Lancaster General Hospital, Trauma-Neuro Unit, 555 N. Duke St., Lancaster, PA 17602.
